Clarisse L. Jackson, LPC

Clarisse Jackson began working with Family Life Counseling as a therapist in July 2009.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work in 2006 and a Master’s Degree in Human Development Counseling in 2008 both from the University of Illinois at Springfield. 

Clarisse completed an undergraduate internship working in a community counseling agency providing counseling, psychoeducation and group facilitator skills to individuals dealing with substance abuse and mental disabilities.  She also has experience teaching computer skills to disabled individuals empowering them to become independent.  After graduating from the University of Illinois with her Master’s Degree, Clarisse worked at an agency in Illinois, counseling adults, children, adolescents, couples, families and facilitating groups. 

Clarisse is a licensed professional counselor in the State of Colorado and the State of Illinois.  She is a member of the American Counseling Association and is a National Certified Counselor.  Clarisse is trained as a Prepare/Enrich facilitator and in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy used with clients who have experienced various types of trauma.

Clarisse’s approach to counseling is compassionate and empathetic.  Her counseling is based on a guiding model characterized by a focus on health and wellness and she believes in the inherent worth and dignity of all individuals.  Clarisse believes the counselor-client relationship must be based on equality and the counseling process should be a collaborative effort.  Her theoretical approach to counseling focuses on the importance of growth and self-awareness along with how our thoughts and beliefs impact our feelings and behaviors.  Clarisse’s therapeutic endeavor involves such goals as gaining personal insight, exploring choices and life transitions, and discovering effective ways of coping with stress along with enhancing interpersonal relationships.

Clarisse has a special interest in working with clergy, their spouses and families as she is a pastor’s wife.  She has facilitated groups for clergy and clergy spouses as well as groups where individuals explore their faith and spirituality in conjunction with family and life situations.  Clarisse’s life experiences include being a wife, mother, grandmother, caregiver, abuse survivor and successfully navigating through a mid-life career transition.

Clarisse is skilled and comfortable working with adults, couples, and families dealing with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, abuse, relationship dynamics, women’s issues, spirituality, chronic illness, life transitions (including successful aging), and caregiver concerns.
